The guitar SO good it's mentioned in almost EVERY piece of historical Rock and Country literature EVER published. A workhorse used by so MANY amazing musicians its in the liner notes of almost every recording made in the last 50 years!
And its MINE ALL MINE!!!!!!

It doesnt matter if its Ed Mcmahon or the Kraft super clearinghouse, we have ALL enteredcontests KNOWING that we'd NEVER win! I have entered to win everything from a FREE Bikini Wax to a full length mink coat and every USEless item you can imagine! This time however I won!
Gibson, in conjunction with a major movie studio decided to give away a $2800 Gibson J-45 to promote the Tenacious D movine the "pick of destiny!"
Now I love Jack Black and his work, but I LUSTED after the guitar, if for no other reason than its a GIBSON, and theres not a REAL one in my collection!

Heres the Ad that we ALL got

Now HOW many of us GOT the email and just kind of deleted it? Come on, I ALMOST did the same thing, boy am I glad I didnt!

You can NOT imagine MY excitement/reserve/nervousness when I got that email from  Diana at Gibson informing me that I had just won this contest. Forst of all I couldnt even remember ENTERING the contest, secondly I had to go back to the Gibson archives just to find out what the prize was!

THEN I got REALLY excited! just think if it were true! Other than a baseball trophy when I was a kid I hadn't 'won' anything in  my life! So not only did I email her back, but started calling the number listed. Son of a gun, the phone number in the emasil took me to Gibson Corporate and that extension answered as her! Ok now I was getting a little ecstatic. So I called every hour. BUT , I only left 1 voice mail referencing my email.

The following day I got a call and set up the delivery details, only to be told that she would be out of town from then on and someone else would be handling the actual delivery! Oh great! What she goes on vacation so the janitor gets the job of stuffing my $2800 beauty in an envelope with no padding and a few self stick on stamps....I began to feel like Pablo from the Backyardagins!

And REALLY wouldnt HE look silly with a GIBSON?   oh know, wheres my guitar, i know it's lost i'll never get here, smashed to pieces

Lucky for me... all was well! and it DID arrive, without a SCRATCH!

Quality Through and Through!                                         Look Momma I WON!!!!!!!

For those wondering YES the cat DID survive this encounter....................

For those of you who own or have played Gibsons this will come as no surprise I'm sure, but to say that I was BLOWN away would be a dramatc understatemnet. Even to removing it from it's case, this is SO LIGHT, it's hard to believe that it plays.
I own an SQCE from JT that was my only acoustic up to this and I LOVE that guitar, but this , WOW.

Then of course comes the question of whether my playing level deserves a guitar of this quality. My wife PROMPTLY reminded me that I DO have a SON, who I hope will play one day, and how cool would that be, to be able to play an instrument like this?
It would be SO easy to sell it and pay bills or buy a Jem, or a Marshall stack or.....
But honestly, I'd like to be able to hang onto it as long as God allows it. In the end it IS just STUFF and as much as I can make GREAT music with HIGHER end STUFF, I still love my Epi Evolution as well!
