 My second electric after I took up guitar again. $235 in a mom and pop shop here in town. Spent HOURS comparing this in a
side by side comparison with a Jay Turser Tele clone and a peavey tele clone. All 3 sounded great, they all felt about the
same, the Fender was a little heavier than the other two but not much.
I finally settled on the Fender simply because of resale price. I had NO idea what the Peavey would resell for and I KNEW
the JT, as good as it may have been, would have ZERO resale. So I went with the Fender, just in case I decided that the Tele
‘twang’ wasn’t what I wanted. Lo and behold, there was none! I think that we make assumptions
about what things SHOULD sound like just because of the things we see being used in one form or fashion and just get stuck
on that idea. Tele – country and western. Oh yeah, and the rolling stones, and John 5 and… well you get
my idea.
So I bought this as a 2nd guitar, one to leave in my practice space. Everytime I took my evolution outside the neck would
warp IMMEDIATELY. It was VERY frustrating. So I figured I’d buy another axe and deal w/it that way. It worked out
quite well. Once I built my own practice space I was able to bring the tele home, and that’s when I started looking
for upgrades. I had become VERY used to any quirks it may have had, and the neck rounded out very nicely. So I searched ebay
for some MIA pups, and $37 later I was in business. Now it’s a very well used guitar with great sounds and a very
good playability.
